Self Portrait
I went to CTNX a few weeks ago. I had a lot of fun learning more about animation and meeting people!
I have been slaving over this art project. Life size self portrait. So this is about 6ft by 3ft. My idea was to represent my story ideas as blooming. I made them color because someone's creations are remembered when the personality of an individual is not. I had fun drawing the characters but transferring from the sketch to another paper hanging on my wall and then finally to ink made them lose their line quality. The floral design wasn't planned in advance and probably would be better if it was
I do not like drawing myself, especially life size. I need to work on portraits.

Two More Figures
My art teacher told me I ruined this because I smudged the lines a bit when I was making a soft layer for a skin base. But I wasn't concerned so much with my line or even finishing since I was more concerned with the composition and then the hands. I really like the cropping...I don't know why I turtled through this. Only lines in three hours. I must have been tired.
This was fun. I like the things this model puts in his hair. Crooked background though....
I can't wait for Tangled!

Skeletons
My art midterm. I wish I could have put more time into the muscles...These are about 6 1/2 feet tall.
Weight Animation. Needed a few more frames at the end.
Besides, that midterms and working on a video game project are keeping me very busy. Though I took out a large chunk of my schedule to meet the Japanese animation students who visited my school. It was very interesting. Got to go to Sony Imageworks and Animation with them. I was so glad that the tour manager specially arranged Japanese speaking employees to talk to them about their work.

Freshman Fall Semester Animations
Here are the animations I did the Fall of my first year, (at least the ones I liked):
I realized I never put them up.

During the summer my sister and me did some fanart to sell as prints at a convention. My sister drew the males, I drew the Pokemon (Pikachu, Eevee, and the Beedrill), I compiled it in photoshop, did the background, and colored it all. I want to get better at photoshop. I used the smudge tool a lot which I heard is not a good way to color in it. I will take a class next semester I hope.
Another Pokemon fanart for the convention. I drew the girl (please ignore her huge hand!) and Furret, while my sister drew the boy and Zubat and Gastly. She inked it and I colored/toned it in Photoshop. I wanted to play around with a coloring style I saw, but I didn't do it right.
Made this back in December. It was for a cosplay organization near me. Sis drew the boy and the background. I drew the girl and colored it. I've never been to the meetings, but I usually do the shirt designs. Done with ink and copic (which smudged in some spots.) Sparkles with photoshop.
This was for a local Thanksgiving race organization. I won first place with my design. I had entered two years ago and was asked to reenter. This design will be on a shirt. They seem to like the childish look for the contest.

Figure Studies and a Sketch
First is a drawing I did in my sketchbook. I should have been working on an essay, but....I think my guys are getting better from figure drawing. I'm not even gonna pretend my scanner can scan. Everything always looks so bad when I use it.
From Glenn Vilppu's class. Not as good as most of that class's students BUT for me these seemed like I was getting better.

End of Game Design + Final Art Project
To end a very stressful class, I had a very stressful final project. For game design, my group (against my will) decided to do a game pitch about pirates vs. ninja vs. robots. I kind of got my way with cooperative play but not really. So I agreed to do two drawings for them. The ninja and the robot for the presentation. (I found a pirate on Deviantart do use for the pitch). These were my quick drawings.
Also in Art class we had to represent an idea with the figure for our final. My theme was that we hide our false identity with another false identity. We are trapped by these false selves. It was done in colored India Ink. It was hard to mix colors and I could not mix a skin tone. It looked like a corpse color!

Some 3 Hour Figure Drawings + Mixed Media Quickie
This is an hour long mixed media assignment I did with charcoal, ink and conte. The model liked it and wanted a picture of it. It's pretty large. I have it hanging on my wall so it doesn't get damaged. I didn't get to do a background. I'm never really happy with anything I do, but it was fun to use ink.
The model stayed after class for 10 minutes so me and a few others could finish. (well I never FINISH, but at least he had a okay shaded leg from it)
This was supposed to be a 6 hour drawing, but I got sick and had to complete it in one day (3 hours). I speed through it.
The model stood on a ladder. The perspective slowed me down a lot, but I felt bad for him because he was shaking during the pose.
I was like the only one who tried a highly foreshortened view, but I liked the challenge. Now if only I didn't shade with such high contrast like my teacher keeps telling me not to do...

Self Portrait and Finished Animation Project; Disney Inspire Days
This is a self portrait I did for Art 101b. We had to draw ourselves in another artist's style. I chose Roy Lichtenstein. I don't really like it too much. Most of the stuff in this class is either really rushed or I don't like, but I do have a few figure drawings that I like and that I will post soon.
This last Friday I headed over to Disney Studios for Disney Inspire Days. I had heard about other animators in my class that were chosen by lottery to go so I emailed the people in charge and asked to be put on a waiting list. My school, I guess decided to send 10 other people to it and I got to go! : D
I had been sick all week but I REALLY REALLY wanted to go. My mom dropped me off at the gate and I wandered around a while until I found the right building. I was really early so I just looked at all the Mickey stuff. They gave us bagels and then we all went into a panel room. They gave a shout out to all the schools. Everyone was given a goodie bag of Princess and the Frog stickers, PatF journal, a mickey pin, and Principles of animation ruler and a Tangled advertisement. They welcomed us by showing us clips from Tangled. It looks so good! I really can't wait for it! There were panels focused on Good Story, Appealing characters, and a believable world, as well as Intern success stories.During these panels they had representatives from each department of story or character come up and talk about their job. They also had an storyboard thought demonstration and the animator of Dr. Facilier and Piglet talk about animation. He was hilarious! He talked about the original death scene of Ray and how he liked how he animated it, but it was deemed to violent. I didn't see the Believable World panel because I went on the Studio tour at that time. There was visual development of Tangled all over the place. I love Flynn Rider's design! He's personality is so apparent through it! Also I really like how the rigs (3-D animation bones) are being put to the test. There was a scene of him getting hit and it flowed like 2-D animation.
I found out so much about the studio. They are trying to make it much more open so that accidental conversations that lead to inspiration occur and there is even a gym and a game room. I wanted to work for Disney before, but now I really REALLY want to. I need to work very hard to become a better artist! >: D
This is my completed animation assignment for class. We were supposed to do a pixelation combined with hand drawn animation assignment, but it turned into an After Effects project! Now i can start the next assignment which is silhouette stop motion.
