Series for Figure Drawing Class

My original idea for my series was to portray the cliches of what women are supposed to do for beauty, but although I don't necessary feel women have to follow these cliches, I wasn't feeling passion for the subject. So I changed to focus on mythology in which women caused disaster, the beautiful evil which Greeks mentioned: kalon kakon. This idea has been inspiration for the story I am writing, so why not.

The art piece that follows the original theme. It was fun to add the 3-D elements and I always wanted to add glitter to an artwork.

This is supposed to be Aphrodite holding the apple that she bribed Paris into giving her. The deal was she'd give him Helen and therefore she caused the Trojan War. I thought it'd be interesting to ink over splattered guache.

Pandora who opened the jar and released all the evils. Ink and white pencil on pastel paper.

Japanese Girl

This is a character design for an animation project between my school USC, and the Tokyo Institute of technology. We are doing preproduction and they are animating. I know I'm not a strong character designer but I was asked to try. I need to get better at drawing more easily.

More Film Studies: Hercules

First 3D After Effects

Had a lot of difficulties learning how to use the 3d aspects of After Effects. The camera is a little wonky and moves too much. The drawings are pastel sketches from the San Diego Japanese friendship garden. I couldn't figure out how to import a 3D photoshop element and get it to not randomly disappear! I didn't draw the "jumping fish." It was a temporary fish, but I had so many other problems I forgot to replace it.
Hopefully next time I try 3D in after effects, I will be much better. With better art as well.

Ancient Civilization and Storyboard Studies

First up, is the progress on my ancient civilization discovery piece. I think it needs a few more passes. I can definetly see the improvement since the first composition assignment.

Kamen Ramen

For Japanese class we had to do a project to represent our knowledge of the language. I did a spoof on Japanese dating video games and Sailor Moon. I worked with Amber on it. She colored all the backgrounds (except I did a few "effects" backgrounds) and did the drawings of the girl (except in the walking scene). I drew the men and cats, colored the characters, wrote it, planned, and compiled it.

I didn't get much sleep last week and still I wish I had just a little longer to do at least simple things like pan and zooms.

The basic idea is that the cat and boy see the girl, and comment that she is the "Udon Princess" similar to the "Moon Princess" in Sailor Moon. He asks her to eat with him, asks a lot of about her family, orders food, and they talk about how they both like to cook. Then they receive the wrong order, and the chief has become a monster and attacks with hamburgers. He transforms and saves the day (saving the world from fatty food) and then the cat gives the girl a transformation necklace. She says "Udon Makeup" and it ends.
